Skyven Arcturus demonstration center, Texas: 1 MWth steam-generating heat pump
Vendor and trade notes (November 2025): Skyven commissioned a 1 MWth steam-generating heat-pump demonstration center in Farmers Branch, Texas. It is a supplier demo, not a named host-plant installation. The stated COP of 6.5 is a vendor claim; the temperature lift is not in the same release.

- Architecture
- Skyven Arcturus steam-generating heat pump at a company demonstration center; product line is marketed from 1 to 60 MWth
- Result status
- Skyven and pv magazine reported commissioning in November 2025 at 1 MWth. The vendor states a COP of 6.5 and a roadmap above 8. Those figures are not placed on the card, because the lift is unpublished and they are not comparable to large-lift steam cases.
- Key risk
- A COP near 6–8 usually implies a small temperature lift. Until source and steam temperatures are published, do not use 6.5 as a peer of the COP ~2 paper-mill case.
- Existing system
- Demonstration center for boiler-quality steam, not a published customer process line
- Refrigerant
- Not stated in the commissioning notes used here

- Annual savings
- Not stated as a measured annual total for this demonstration center

Project background
In November 2025 Skyven Technologies announced the Arcturus demonstration center in Farmers Branch, near Dallas, Texas. pv magazine described the same 1 MWth unit. A separate 2024 note said an Arcturus system would be supplied to an ethanol plant in Medina, New York; that host plant is not documented as operating in the sources used here, so this entry covers only the Texas demonstration center.
Narrative inputs
Published thermal capacity: 1 MWth of steam. Source temperature, steam pressure, refrigerant, and hours are not in the commissioning notes used here.
Heat pump solution
The vendor describes a steam-generating heat pump that captures waste heat and connects to a steam system, shown at the company's own demonstration center. Cycle details are not in the short announcements.
COP & savings
The only performance number widely quoted is the vendor COP of 6.5, with a stated path above 8, plus a comparison with boilers that this site does not adopt. No temperature pair is published beside that COP in the notes used here.
Investment / ROI notes
No project investment or payback is published for the demonstration center in the notes used here. The 1–60 MWth range is a product statement, not an installed fleet.
