Top Stories

  1. Chillventa’s closing release (15 Oct) counts 1,170 exhibitors from 50 countries, 16% above 1,010 in 2024, and over 36,000 visitors, 10% above 33,076. Almost 60% of those visitors came from outside Germany. The congress the day before is given as over 300 participants. The organizer’s review page, opened 18 Oct, still prints 1,010 exhibitors and 33,076 visitors in the success-figures block, beside a 2024 extract. The 12 Oct opening line was more than 1,150 exhibitors. Do not add the opening line to the close, or the 2024 block to the 2026 close
  2. Two notes of one SRMTec talk do not print one supply temperature. Natural Refrigerants (12 Oct) says the ammonia modules were built for a 25 MW Danish district-heating installation, deliver up to 83°C from flue gas, with 20 MW of heating, 15 MW of cooling and a heating COP of 4.57, and names Araner. The congress note (13 Oct) says the six modules are being developed, lifts flue-gas waste heat to 84°C ahead of carbon capture, and prints the same 20 MW, 15 MW and 4.57. A follow-up of double the size is the speaker’s statement in both notes. The 25 MW is the 12 Oct headline, not a second plant
  3. Three stands, three files. Natural Refrigerants (14 Oct) puts Refra’s R290 high-temperature heat pump at 30–400 kW per unit and hot water up to 80°C, and the CO₂ booster at 55–267 kW, modular to 1 MW. The same outlet (15 Oct) puts Mirai Intex’s MT450 at hot water up to 73°C, in ambients from −20°C to 35°C, with an optional 45°C. Euroklimat’s R290 skid (14 Oct) adds a hydraulic separator and a water-circuit leak detector, and states no capacity and no supply temperature. Do not borrow 80°C onto the skid, or 73°C onto Refra
  4. The congress remarks are not a census. In the 13 Oct report, a Danfoss speaker says company research puts the European heat-pump opportunity at 100 GW, with food and beverage at 67%, and processes up to 150°C. The same talk describes a Gulpener cascade to 95°C, steam at 131°C from 60°C wastewater, and a UK university cascade of up to 10 MW. A DTI speaker says that of more than 50 heat pumps reviewed in IEA Project 68, 75% use natural refrigerants, and about one-third of the recorded projects are in food and beverage. A Fraunhofer speaker says more than 25% of the listed suppliers are in Germany, and only six of 50 demonstration cases are. No IEA spreadsheet was opened for those shares
  5. Three refrigerant tapes on 16 Oct, and none of them moved on the day. 隆众’s East China line, carried on Mysteel, keeps R32 at ¥63,500–64,500/t, the same band as 9 Oct. Juhua in Zhejiang held R32 at ¥65,500/t, unchanged on the day and the same plant figure as 10 Oct. Dongyue in Shandong held R32 at ¥65,500/t, unchanged on the day. The two plant quotes are not the East China band, and they are not week 41’s Dongyang quote of ¥66,000/t on 8 Oct. On the national standards page, opened 18 Oct, GB/T 18837-2026 is still marked as not yet in force, effective 1 November

Policy & Regulation

  • The standards shelf that was re-opened did not move inside this week. On the national standards page, checked 18 Oct, GB/T 18837-2026 for multi-split air-conditioning (heat pump) units is still marked as not yet in force. The publication date on that page is 30 April 2026. The effective date is still 1 November. No new refrigeration or heat-pump GB taking effect between 12 and 18 October was on that record. Japan’s October issue list, the JSA sheet dated for issue on 20 October, schedules JIS B 8630 (commercial electric refrigerators and freezers — characteristics and test methods) and JIS S2076 (performance measurement and annual water-heating efficiency of electric heat-pump / instantaneous gas hybrid water heaters) for publication on 20 October. That date is after this week, and a publication date on an issue list is not a duty taking effect. JIS B 8615-1:2025, issued 21 April 2025, remains the standing test method for non-ducted air conditioners and heat pumps. The 31 October China filing date for 2027 ODS and HFC quota applications, and the 1 January 2027 ban on producing HCFC-22 multi-split units in MEE announcement 2026 No. 42, were not replaced by a notice opened this week. They stay the dates carried from week 41.
  • Two other clocks were looked up and did not become a new instrument inside 12–18 October. The legislature status page for California SB 222 returned 403 on 18 Oct, so it was not re-read. LegiScan and CalMatters list Chapter 738, dated 28 September. That date sits before week 41. On 11 Oct the legislature page itself still showed the bill as enrolled, with no chapter number. Until that page shows the chapter, the dates in the enrolled text stay conditional, and 28 September is not an action inside this week. On the EU side, no regulation taking effect this week was opened. Chillventa’s 12 Oct opening release says the impact of what it calls the new ErP26 Ecodesign Regulation is on the forum agenda. That sentence names a topic. It is not the regulation text, and no article, date or threshold was taken from it.
Markets

Market & Industry

  • The fair has three headcounts, and they answer different questions. The closing release of 15 Oct is the organizer’s close: 1,170 exhibitors from 50 countries, against 1,010 in 2024 (+16%), and over 36,000 visitors against 33,076 (+10%). Almost 60% of the visitors came from outside Germany. The congress is a separate count, over 300, and it is not inside the 36,000. The 12 Oct opening release, written before the halls closed, said more than 1,150 exhibitors from over 50 countries and over 200 lectures. That is an opening line, not a second census to add to 1,170. The review page opened on 18 Oct still leads with Chillventa 2026, then prints 1,010 exhibitors and 33,076 visitors in the success-figures block, with the line that 94% of exhibitors wanted to return in 2026, and a heading that the block is an extract from the 2024 show report. The 57% international-visitor share sits in that 2024 extract. It is not the closing release’s almost 60%. The same closing release sets the next Chillventa for 10–12 October 2028, with the congress on 9 October 2028, and the European Heat Pump Summit for 26–27 October 2027 in Nuremberg. Those dates are the organizer’s, not a visitor forecast.
  • The refrigerant signal is three tapes on one day, continued from week 41’s method and not merged with it. Mysteel’s refrigerant hub carries 隆众’s East China note of 16 Oct: mainstream R32 at ¥63,500–64,500/t. The same hub prints that band for 14 Oct and 15 Oct. It matches week 41’s 9 Oct band and does not replace it with a new one. Juhua in Zhejiang, on 16 Oct, held R32 at ¥65,500/t, R22 at ¥24,000/t and R125 at ¥60,000/t, each unchanged on the day. The R32 figure is the same plant quote as 10 Oct. Dongyue Lüleng in Shandong, on 16 Oct, held R32 at ¥65,500/t and R22 at ¥24,000/t, both unchanged on the day. Dongyue was not in week 41’s tapes. Week 41’s Dongyang quote in Ruyuan, ¥66,000/t for R32 on 8 Oct, was not re-issued in a note opened this week. Two plants printing ¥65,500/t on the same morning are still not the East China band of ¥63,500–64,500/t.
Tech

Technology & Demonstrations

  • The ammonia number that will be repeated from this fair is a talk, reported twice, and the two reports do not agree on the easy details. Natural Refrigerants on 12 Oct says Rüdiger Rudischhauser of SRMTec, part of Snowman, detailed modules built for a 25 MW district-heating installation in Denmark. Six modules each consist of low-temperature, medium-temperature and high-temperature heat pumps. The note places the word two in front of that list and does not say how many machines sit in each stage. The note says the system delivers up to 83°C with flue gas as the source, 20 MW of heating, 15 MW of cooling and a heating COP of 4.57, and that SRMTec is working with Araner on a follow-up of double the size. The congress report on 13 Oct, by the same writer, describes six ammonia modules being developed for an industrial site that is installing carbon capture. Flue gas is cooled before the capture equipment. Waste heat is lifted to 84°C for a local district-heating system, with the same 20 MW, 15 MW and heating COP of 4.57. The double-size line is again the speaker’s. Carbon capture and the word developing are in the 13 Oct note. Araner, the 25 MW headline and 83°C are in the 12 Oct note. No owner’s data sheet, no ammonia charge and no measured seasonal COP were opened. The 4.57 is the figure printed from the talk. It is not a metered annual result, and it is not the COP of Refra’s stand unit or of Mirai’s compressor.
  • The other congress figures travel only as far as the 13 Oct report. Danfoss’s Ivan Rangelov is quoted as saying company research finds a 100 GW decarbonization opportunity for heat pumps in Europe, 67% of it in food and beverage, and that processes up to 150°C can be decarbonized with heat pumps. The projects named in that talk, as relayed, are a Dutch brewery, Gulpener, where an ammonia chiller was replaced by a reversible R290 heat pump for process cooling, cascaded with an R600a heat pump to 95°C, plus an R600 heat pump making steam at 131°C from 60°C wastewater; and an unnamed UK university district network, with CO₂ and isobutane heat pumps in cascade, up to 10 MW of heating. No COP is stated for either. Benjamin Zühlsdorf of the Danish Technological Institute, on IEA Project 68, is quoted as saying that of more than 50 heat pumps reviewed, 75% use natural refrigerants, and about one-third of the projects recorded in the project are in food and beverage. Ursula Wittstadt of Fraunhofer is quoted as saying that more than 25% of the listed high-temperature suppliers are in Germany, while only six demonstration cases out of 50 are in Germany: four in industrial process heat and two in district heating. Those shares were not checked against an IEA table this week. This site’s Annex 68 note is a reading guide to the project. It is not the source of the 75%.
  • The machines on the stands do not share a temperature. Natural Refrigerants (14 Oct) reports that Refra showed a CO₂ booster with an integrated gas cooler, 55–267 kW, modular to 1 MW, for medium temperature, low temperature, or as a gas cooler, and an R290 high-temperature heat pump of 30–400 kW per unit with hot water up to 80°C. The equalized-circuit line is the company’s, as relayed. No charge, SCOP or source temperature is in that note. Mirai Intex (15 Oct) showed the MT450, an R290 turbo compressor for heat pumps, ambients from −20°C to 35°C, optional to 45°C, hot water up to 73°C. Sergey Kravtsov is quoted as saying the company has taken more than 700 orders for the smaller MT 290 and MT 350 chillers for 2027. That is an order claim in a booth interview, not a shipment print, and it is not an order for the MT450. Secon and RSE are described as developing chillers around the new compressor. That is not a commissioned plant. Euroklimat (14 Oct) showed an R290 heat pump on a factory skid with a hydraulic separator, pumps, controls and detection of propane in the water circuit, aimed at boiler retrofits in commercial and residential buildings. The note explains that a boiler circuit wants a large temperature difference and a low flow, while a heat pump wants a high flow and a small difference, so the separator lets the existing pipes stay. It gives no kilowatts, no supply temperature and no flow. Week 41’s YORK YMAE-P, with 80°C at −25°C in a trade report, is a different machine and was not given a new tested lift in the reports opened this week. The AIT Heat Pump Innovation Lounge, named in the 15 Oct closing release, showed drying and steam generation with industrial heat pumps. The release states no model, temperature or measured duty. A lounge is not a drying project.
Analysis

Why It Matters

  • Do not add the headcounts. The 12 Oct line, more than 1,150 exhibitors, is an opening sentence. The 15 Oct close is 1,170 exhibitors and over 36,000 visitors, with the congress over 300 kept separate. The review page’s 1,010 and 33,076 are the 2024 extract still sitting on that page on 18 Oct. Almost 60% international is the close. 57% is the 2024 extract. A visitor total is not a heat-pump shipment, and it does not add to week 41’s AHRI August print.
  • Do not move the temperatures. 83°C and 84°C are two reports of one SRMTec talk. 20 MW and 15 MW and a heating COP of 4.57 are the figures both notes print. 25 MW is only the 12 Oct headline. 80°C is Refra’s stand water temperature. 73°C is Mirai’s compressor note. Euroklimat’s skid has neither. The YMAE-P’s 80°C at −25°C is week 41’s trade report of a different machine. 100 GW, 67%, 75% and six-out-of-fifty are sentences from a congress report. They were not read off an IEA workbook. A heating COP stated in a talk is not the useful heat at a plant that was not measured here.
  • The clocks that were re-opened stayed put. GB/T 18837-2026 is still 1 November, and the page still says it is not yet in force. JIS B 8630 and JIS S2076 are scheduled for issue on 20 October, which is next week, and an issue date is not a new operating duty. China’s 31 October quota filing and the 1 January 2027 HCFC-22 multi-split production ban remain the dates from week 41. SB 222’s chapter, as listed by secondary trackers, is dated 28 September; the legislature page did not open on 18 Oct, and on 11 Oct it still showed enrolled. The UK budget remains 28 October. The Dutch 2029 letter and Canada’s rebate, which has no opening date, were not given a new notice this week. Chillventa’s own next dates are 26–27 October 2027 for the European Heat Pump Summit, 9 October 2028 for the congress and 10–12 October 2028 for the fair.
  • Apply the signal: the week’s lever is a stand temperature and a congress COP, not a measured plant lift. A hydraulic skid that states no supply temperature has not answered the lift. A 4.57 printed from an ammonia talk still has to be separated into desuperheat and condensation, and set against the hot water that is actually there at the same hour. The ammonia refrigeration heat-recovery note is the measurement list for that separation. It does not turn a booth interview into a project result.

  • 20 Oct 2026: JSA issue list schedules publication of JIS B 8630 (commercial refrigerators and freezers) and JIS S2076 (hybrid water-heater efficiency). An issue date is not, by itself, a requirement taking effect. 28 Oct: UK Autumn Budget, carried from week 41. 31 Oct: China 2027 ODS/HFC quota and initial-transfer applications, carried from week 41. 1 Nov: GB/T 18837-2026 for multi-split air-conditioning (heat pump) units, still the date on the standards page opened 18 Oct.
  • 1 Jan 2027: EU GWP<150 limits begin for defined self-contained AC/heat-pump categories up to 50 kW, subject to safety exceptions; China bans production of HCFC-22 multi-split air-conditioning (heat pump) units. SB 222’s own dates stay those of the enrolled text — 1 Jan 2027, 1 Jul 2027, 1 Jul 2028 — until a chapter number is on the legislature page. 26–27 Oct 2027: European Heat Pump Summit, Nuremberg, in Chillventa’s 15 Oct closing release. 9 Oct 2028: Chillventa congress. 10–12 Oct 2028: Chillventa. 2029: earliest date the Dutch letter of week 41 gives for a hybrid norm that is not yet in the decree. Canada’s heat-pump rebate portal still has no opening date in the week 41 record, and none was published in a notice opened this week.
